Poem 44: Why I Will Fall in Love

Unpublished from Jan 2014

I’m going to dive head first
Into water or concrete
Thinking of only
The cool dip of my fingertips
Can’t imagine anything
But swimming
Forever on one breath of him- even

Wear white again
If it meant I could spend
My life with him

A Year of Love Mekanism Project

What would I say if these were the last things I said? What would I eat if this were the last morsel I  feel on my tongue? Where would I go? What would I do? Who would…? With whom…?

Questions that seem the most dark to think of- especially when you have no reason to believe you don’t have time to figure out are all the ones thrust on me a bit over a month ago. I found that none of these are reflected here and that there’s no reason they shouldn’t.

At first… Continue reading

Poem 39: Sadness in Sunshine

Trees dancing in the breeze
Eating. Drinking enough to think
Of tags in new clothing

The plight of children and broccoli
Smiles, laughter, and life fill hallways
In safe places of education everyday

Free worship and meditation
Mostly loving friends and family
Strangers yielding the right of way

Paper-cut fingers, painted toes
Temporarily stuffy noses
Beautiful Spring flowers. Roses

Suppose
Sadness in sunshine
May be an ungrateful thing

Meka Trail-Walking in Rain

Poem 33: While I Still Believe You’re Everything

By Meka

Hold me in your breath

Mouth to mine and whisper my name

Like the only name left

Collapsed in embrace to dance in your fragrance

Off-beat or awkwardly sexy, bare tippy-toes atop your feet

Following your lead

And the trail of kisses buried beneath my cheeks

Like no one can see.

While I still believe you’re everything

And these petals still think

They’re flowers

Love me like first and last memories

And tomorrow’s no promise of ours

Each moment is a gift, isn’t it? Thank you for enjoying my first love poem of 2014. Like, share, and don’t forget to follow on Twitter! ❤

Poem 21: Part 2 – Second the One

2nd part of the series “Second the One” by Meka

Sell me the dream,” I think
Gazing intently atop my drink
Careful not miss his rendition of the familiar speech
These lips can sync it by heart and memory
Recalling files of familiar lines from the Top Shelf
Tipsy enough to amuse myself

But the muse, myself
Instead is listening attentively-
Admiring how seriously
He takes life but not himself

Makes punch-lines land smoothly
Amid run away laughter
Drowning out the sense to tell when it’s time to

Reading of Poem 27- Southern Metropolis: A Love Story

After challenging myself on facebook.com/lovemekanism to satisfactorily read one of my poems, I finally read Southern Metropolis: A Love Story in a YouTube video. Much better than the first time I tried a similar challenge.

Southern Metropolis is a love story metaphor for artists in metropolitan areas or small towns who believe they must leave everything behind and move away to achieve their dreams for many reasons– perhaps the lack of local opportunities, possibly limited support in a divided community, or simply that arts may not be seen as an acceptable way to make a living there. It is part tragedy, part endearing, part “unsaid thing“, and all love and art. That’s still appealing story to me. I’m happy to have been able to write and share it- now read it to you.

Enjoy!

Poem 28: Love Sabotage

by Meka Love

Desired so long; wanting so strongly
Sprinting, crawling, reaching, gnawing
Kneeling, begging, fervently asking for it

For strength and will until time for basking
In it’s glow and satisfaction; confused reaction
When it became mine, now I am done wishing and

Want permission to take it for granted
Contemplating love sabotage. It is mine. Isn’t it?
Hard to accept it’s not a mirage when it’s so perfect

And I’m not worthy. Forces the question
Whether it was ever worth it. It could hurt me- unprotected
Not if I hurt it that scaled my wall and made me a skeptic

Is it unacceptable? Or should I relish the exception
Of perfect timing, seeds of good will- trying to see the
Possibilities of patience, wishes prayed up, appreciation

For what is incredible; Admittedly, anything less is unacceptable
Nothing is perfect but love for me except that
I must accept it to be happy

Poem 26: Teacher

Do it again

Make me react like that

I didn’t know that did that

How could I know that meant that

Studiously catching words from your lips

Pocketing them at my hips

To be emptied by your fingertips

Don’t stop teaching me

Teacher

Poem 25: Relapsing

311 days

Creeping by

Crave, shake, deny, cry

But numbers never lie

Need threatens sanity

A serenity-bound sleeve

Heat once flowed to me

‘Til you snatched my heart beat

Made a cold b**h in heat

You could relieve.

My Fav Halloween Story in 1 Minute

There is a really cool Halloween story about a little man being chased in the dark of night in his own neighborhood by his giant creepy nemesis. Desperate and in fear for his life, he got the courage to fight back.

Must’ve taken every ounce he could muster from his small frame to fight his way to escape. He believed that the bloody scene meant that he had triumphed against the foe who haunted him….at first

Follow the link to hear the story ending’s interesting twist. Enjoy! Happy Halloween
