From his lips and the call of smooth silk
Loosening his tie side-to-side to hear it
Quickly zip-line across the collar starched, crisp
Focused on button by button, unbuttoning each
Plus both brushed cufflinks, anticipating…
Say the clinks of wedged fingers unbuckling at the waist
Why should new and independent artists care about Beyoncé’s critically acclaimed surprise album?
If you’re an indie music nerd like me, maybe you cringed a little when you heard about a “mega-famous celebrity and a secret…” and braced for ensuing weirdness before turning away. Relieved to learn as you watched between the fingers covering your face, that it was just another Beyonce album.
Now, whether to release her latest work without fanfare was a clever marketing ploy or just uncertainty in a risk management exercise, is of little concern to many new independent or up-and-coming artists. For any number of reasons, she decided it was important to release her adventurous mash-up of genre-hoping musical styles, regardless of how it would be well-received. Which artist can’t relate to that?
I like Beyoncé as much as the next person. She is a beautiful hard-working artist whose talent is a national treasure– clearly deserving her success. And most of us really appreciate that idea. Still, I heard Beyonce’s name referenced alongside the words “cussin'” and “surprise, and instead of curiosity I was admittedly unmoved to relinquish a damn. Why? Well, same as you, it’s not exactly what I have been waiting for either. But it is here, and true-to-form, she does try (valiantly, I might add) to make it good, and history says it will only get better after the one millionth listen. More importantly, and for one bright shiny damn…
Everything in the world wanted me to have this little club song- in the spirit of First Date: Poem 14. This one’s meticulously produced; the artist dances with a sexy subject matter without going too far. Nice one!

About the New Decorum Here
Take a click around. I know that this was a sudden change, but I got tired of not being able to find posts. Hopefully this will help because there are a looot more than I thought. Seems like just yesterday, I posted a celebration of 50 of them! But now there are upwards of 70. Some of them are by others. So far so fine, but it requires a lot more pics. I’m not a big pic person, and I don’t have any professional ones, so be kind.
Here’s what you need to know:
“Featured”: This thing calls all the posts across the top, “Featured”. On this blog, I’ve been calling Reblogs and Guest Posts “Featured” because I didn’t know what else to call them, but until I can change them all, unless otherwise specified, I wrote them.
Tiiiiiide Honey!! I finally finished the Challenge, and it was the most fun. I have already picked one to review, and I will continue reviewing all received by the deadline for possible others.
It’s true that practice makes…. well, not too shabby because this was awesome, Honey! I happened upon some cool stuff and was given others. This time I even engaged some of y’all, and I’m proud for that ( I. would. have. Neeeever *fanning). I accepted a couple of inbox submissions, and that used to make me nervous – that and Facebook “Pokes” Lol… no I was honored and proud for them too. And ya know what? They were pretty good too! Speaking of honor…

Speaking of twitter. I wrote a poem just for twitter and just before lunch. Maybe I should share it. Having shared the first poem here, the first Haiku here, and, I felt the need to share my first twitter poem too. Enjoy!

Other than the reference to Shakespeare’s Julius Ceasar, I have never heard the phrase “et tu”. Hearing or reading this literary earworm reminds me of the very first time I heard, “et tu, Brute?” which means “even you, Brutus?” A betrayed Julius Ceasar says in a dramatic bro-mantic finish after being stabbed by his own best friend and one he never expected to betray him, Marcus Brutus-“even you, Fool?” Oh yeah, Brutus also means stupid in Latin. In retrospect, this one of only two things from high school that I long for. Yes, I know that was a pretty geeky thing to say. The other one longing was Tupac. Tupac’s most famous poem is The Rose that Grew from Concrete (refer to the link above as needed). That’s why I’m calling this one “et Tu Rose?

Tonight’s Question …is for artists of all disciplines
Q. Does your art imitate life, or is does life seem to be imitating art? For the 3rd time in a week, I’ve written a seemingly random work only to learn that a public and related thing had just occurred. Has that ever happened to you? Why do you think so?

I had such a difficult time last week that I decided to start early! And I am so glad I did that. This week was absolutely amazing because I found so much great work. I have been sharing it everywhere. I’ve been inundated with inspiration, so I’m tinkering with another little blog where I can put the stuff that doesn’t fit neatly here (called I Love Mekanism – More Love, for now).
