Reading of Poem 27- Southern Metropolis: A Love Story

After challenging myself on facebook.com/lovemekanism to satisfactorily read one of my poems, I finally read Southern Metropolis: A Love Story in a YouTube video. Much better than the first time I tried a similar challenge.

Southern Metropolis is a love story metaphor for artists in metropolitan areas or small towns who believe they must leave everything behind and move away to achieve their dreams for many reasons– perhaps the lack of local opportunities, possibly limited support in a divided community, or simply that arts may not be seen as an acceptable way to make a living there. It is part tragedy, part endearing, part “unsaid thing“, and all love and art. That’s still appealing story to me. I’m happy to have been able to write and share it- now read it to you.

Enjoy!

Beaming from Another Sunshine Award

Bathing in the Sunshine

I’m beaming after receiving the Sunshine Award again. Thank you too much EJ for the nod on one of the besticist blogs around– Whimsical Eclecticist.  He says it’s about nothing–oh but it is such sweet nothing, and I highly recommend you visit it very soon.

Here’s the skinny: I’m supposed to tell you 10 things about myself and then my fav part is that I get to shower award nominations on 10 blogs that bring the Sunshine. And if it weren’t for EJ’s questions, I’d be staring blindly at my screen as a rush of “random observations about myself” zoom through my mind while my mind’s arm desperately reaches to catch 10 of them while its other arm is struggling to hold the ones I’ve already caught! Dropping random observations like crumbs all over the blogosphere floor. Thanks to EJ of Whimsical Eclecticist, the floor stays clean another day, and my mind doesn’t need arms. In fact, the only thing I’m reaching for is to continue becoming a better person to tell you 10 things about.

Here are 10 things about me, Meka Love- if you choose to accept 😉

Love Mekanism Project

“…but for me, it has become a respectful understanding of credit unduly assigned to limitations of my humanity, and the comparison is awfully pale… for shivering in the enormous cold shadow on the other side of love. Love as a profile of life and an attribute of one’s spirit- not a condition…” -Meka, Love Mekanism Project

5. Awards: A Love Note

1. I know I have thanked you to death already in all the acceptances. This week there were 2! Very Special Awards to Me: The Inspiring Blogger Award and Wonderful Team Readership Award in that order.  Thank you so much! Few things are sweeter than being recognized by your peers. For as long as I get them and I can reasonably respond regardless of the

Very Inspiring Blogger AwardWonderful Team Member Readership Award

timeline, I will. I read all the time, and I genuinely have no problem saying ‘thanks” or sharing! Art is so beautiful in that there doesn’t have to be competition 🙂

2. If I give you an award, please know that the most important thing is that you know how I feel about it. You’ve already given, and you don’t owe anything. Someone will circulate them lol. That’s all!!

3. I am aware that some do not answer them because they are busy and their blogs have become so popular they can no longer accept them. We used to jokingly call those a “high-class” problem to have!  I think that’s marvelous and will not hold it against you, so don’t mention it! In fact, I must admit that I do not check to see afterwards. I have no idea

4. Otherwise, I do include the instructions in the original post, so please feel free to refer back to them as you go about making someone else’s day!

There’s plenty to enjoy in every step of the journey. I will try not to forget to enjoy it. I will do all for as long as I can because I like interacting with you. I read a lot. I like reading, and I believe that every interaction counts.

Super! Wonderful Team Member Readership Award

Thank you Whimsical Eclecticist for this award- the second one from you is just as delightful as the first; I am honored. His writings are clean, creative, and smart; it’s no wonder he’s often showered with awards. I’m impressed by his creativity and grateful for his generous blush-inducing appreciation for Love Mekanism. This energy has been a welcome asset to the project – especially now. I know that one necessary challenge for me will have to be to visit the Whimsical Eclecticist blog and not smirk or smile. You should try it sometime!

Rules:

  1. The nominee of The Wonderful Team Member Readership Award shall display the logo on his/her blog.
  2. The Nominee shall nominate 14 readers they appreciate over a period of 7 days, all at once or little by little; linking to their blogs; and telling them about it at their blogs.
  3. The nominee shall name his/her Wonderful Team Member Readership Award nominees on a post during 7 days.

I’ll follow his lead and nominate at least two people a day for the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award– that is a minimum of two added to this post until all 14 have been nominated. All things equal, this process should take no longer than a week.

Wheeeew!!! No interesting facts 😀 Perfect because I’m all out this morning.

This award is really really important because I believe it’s about the relationship between our blogs- as readers, specifically. Like Kamille, who is quick-witted and one of the most honest people I know. Not to mention a dear friend of the project from the very first post. I told her recently how I appreciate that because I know how difficult it is to continue to support anything consistently. Since Love Mekanism Project has been on Facebook too, she mostly follows there, but I am always happy to see her presence.

Now let’s get down to the business of this lovely award:

You know I am sooooooft mushy putty for the Love Mekanism Project Community, Honey. Loving, supportive, oh so sharp, witty, patient, sexy, understanding, empathetic, but honest, and very talented. My keyboards couldn’t build a better partner than you have been to me here. I hoped you might read what I write, and I do write a lot about nearly everything lol, but you hang right on in there with me, and I appreciate that so much. I don’t know how you do it, but I do know that your presence is the perfect “love tap” along with the sweet comments, sharing, and following–all mean alot to me. When I got this wonderful award, I couldn’t wait to share it with you!

First, I’d like to nominate Juno@rt to receive the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award.

1. I love Juno’s blog. It is one of the most aesthetically pleasing blogs I have seen. She’s a has a special gift for emoting through photography; you feel it. One of the first images of hers I re-blogged here was one called Loves 🙂 Through her lens, a simple flower becomes majestic, and immediately you are drawn in– that’s also when you understand that what you’ve seen is worth remembering… immediately. But just to be sure there is absolutely no denying her talents, she pairs her photos with poetry and quotes that could not be more fitting. I don’t know how she does it, but she reads and is active here. You’re an amazing artist. I appreciate it so much. Thank you.

2. My next *PICK* for this award is Flow of My Soul. Ya can’t help but root for the Flow of My Soul blog. Sure, 😀 I connect with the blogger’s story, of course! It’s a little familiar, but mostly because I really dig the work ethic. Challenges are set, completed, and posted as promised. No matter. Having made and heard so many excuses to not start and not finish, it is refreshing to see one forging ahead and getting better with each post while finding the time to be a faithful friend of Love Mekanism Project, and active member of the Community. You are appreciated.

About the New Decorum Here

Take a click around. I know that this was a sudden change, but I got tired of not being able to find posts. Hopefully this will help because there are a looot more than I thought. Seems like just yesterday, I posted a celebration of 50 of them! But now there are upwards of 70. Some of them are by others. So far so fine, but it requires a lot more pics. I’m not a big pic person, and I don’t have any professional ones, so be kind.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • “Featured”: This thing calls all the posts across the top, “Featured”. On this blog, I’ve been calling Reblogs and Guest Posts “Featured” because I didn’t know what else to call them, but until I can change them all, unless otherwise specified, I wrote them.

Screaming Loud in Deafening Silence

Fiction #2 by Meka

A fictional short story of love. A woman and her daughter locked in a battle of wills–struggling to be heard. Who will win?

Didn’t I tell you not to scream inside? Must I chide you for screaming inside. This is a place of peace and quiet, so respect it. No screaming inside!

Child, have you no pride? People can hear you screaming outside. What will they say? You’ll be a lady someday, and ladies don’t scream outside!

One of several versions of the painting

One of several versions of the painting “The Scream”. The National Gallery, Oslo, Norway. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Find your respect this moment young lady, or take cover. You can NEVER again scream at your mother. You should only obey and love her, it seems– but never ever ever scream!

…are all I wished to say, but the contortion of your face as it pressed out the weighty matters of selfish cookie-hoarding monsters or the taunting manner in which he’s “lookin’ at you” are not quite the same today, so I’ll wait.

You look more like me because “if you were you” you would have sought my guidance. I know you cannot see clearly because I saw your clarity streaming down your cheeks and to your dark painting

As I gently scraped stray streaks of blue paint from her yellow to look busy, she barely says hello anymore. I just tell her anyway what I think she needs to know- in case my baby is in there listening someplace.

“Control yourself…you’ll learn…have to pay attention…just one thing…and instincts…aware… image… grow and evolve….spirit… when you’re older…anticipate…in case of danger… think…yes you’re the same…. never forget… unexpected….but dust yourself off…distant memory, so remember…be..better…bigger… individual…yes, I’m aware..but true friends… pray…trust..don’t ask so many… no, snitching is..You are beautiful…smile!..only once….ever you want to be… melody…lovely painting”

Eye rolls, lip smacks, and occasional grunts are all I ever notice anymore, yet her silence is the most deafening like a barrage of discomforting nothingness followed by a hanging high-five as she disappears right in front of me. “If that’s all…” she says politely in a tone so perfect I would’ve dismissed it easily if I weren’t her mom.

Lord Hammercy, Billy! It’s Been 50 Posts!

Unlikely Music Review as Poetry: New Song By Billy Lord was the very first post here. With permission, I reviewed his newly penned song, Lone Star, as a poetic work. Thanks Billy! These lyrics and his inspiring story helped sparked interests in discovering new artists, new music, and great song content. I urge you to read through the comments for a few of those sentiments. Many asked, “Where can I find out more about Billy Lord and his music?”-wanting to also discover a musical gem. This song gave rise to the New Artist Challenge to discover more new music and now a related series that begins Sunday here on Interact with Me a 8:30pm CST.

And for Billy Lord, on the heels of his recent performance at Independence Park in Bristol, Rhode Island, as part of a 4th of July concert series, now he’s working on new music for his upcoming album, National Anthem, and preparing for an upcoming performance of his critically acclaimed songs from his début album, American Music available on billylordmusic.com at the EOTM Awards on August 2, 2013. For more information about Billy’s upcoming events, appearances, and performances, follow him on facebook, instagram, and twitter: billylordmusic. Now, go find and support some new music!

Thank you for celebrating with me tonight -lovemeka
