Rose that Grew from Concrete and rosa do povo

Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete?

Proving nature’s laws wrong, it learned to walk without having feet.Funny, it seems torose that grew from concrete photo: Rose That Grew From A Concrete Rose.jpg

By keeping its dreams; it learned to breathe fresh air. Long live the rose

that grew from concrete when no one else even cared. -Tupac, 1976-1996

Tupac Shakur, The Rose that Grew from Concrete

Poem 11: Selective Memories

Selective Memories

It’s good to spare a moment on days overcast with clouds- just to enjoy the memories of sunshine -the lovely and divine moments. Hidden or scattered- they mattered. Remember…

Rays that warmed our beaming faces and how laughter stiffened our cheeks that day ‘til our heads couldn’t stay down and our mouths could no longer control the stream

But we restrained the sound ‘til it escaped our nose, and sent so much glee to our bellies that sun showers poured from our eyes in a rush so powerful our sides… achedWith Meka

Why were we laughing like that anyway? The world will never ever know, but we all hold warm bright memories like those… when we excuse ourselves for we can’t control

Spare one….for just a moment or as many of them as you can find. And pull them from the comforting grip of the cavity at your ribs, and hold them up to your eyes, if…

…if that is the only way you can see good things. Just as the sun has never failed to rise- even when slighted by clouds’ blocking it’s light, good memories are always there when you select it

The glow of goodness  isn’t only in us; so many are making memories like those under our sun. When clouds are so low you can’t see or select any, believe that what shows is the beginning and are greater than one will ever know

3 New Changes at Love Mekanism Project

I should say “changes really soon”. More love!!! That’s for sure… I’m still grasping that I’m not alone in here. Your patience and presence feels absolutely amazing. Of course… I did redecorate that one time…but I came up with a few ways to make things more comfortable and easily navigable for you without compromising the integrity of the project:

1) Open and Unedited: You will find a link or tab or menu to make it easier to differentiate works that are currently open and/or unedited. No one asked, but I’m just tryna help 🙂 that way at least you know when I’m working or if I have abandoned a project. Let’s see how that goes.

2) Schedule. For the regular ‘series’ posts and the one new upcoming series, I will post a schedule and try that out, so look for it! Got my fingers crossed, and we’ll see if that works too… It might help if they occur less randomly. It always surprises me who looks forward to what, but I’m just glad you’re reading and benefit. Thank you!

3) Challenge details. More details, rules that I kept in mind, and support related to Challenges. I understand that some are coming later and want to complete the ones I have on their own. Also the New Artist Challenge is becoming a series instead of a sporadic event! <–so excited about that

Why “Nerd Words” aren’t so Nerdy

A word-lovin-nerd-blog must have a segment about words. Here’s why “Nerd Words” never became just word-a-day filler I imagined.

Here’s why “Nerd Words” aren’t so nerdy.

1. I try to be loyal to my words. Of all the titillating tongue-dancing, lip-smacking words, sensory reacting words, right in front of us that we take for granted, how dare I scour exotic special dictionaries of clobbered latin, non-sense, and redundancy.

With “use your words” as a common request on this self-discovery a mission, why would I think you seek to speak like someone else? Instead of introducing new words, I seek to re-introduce some that are important to me– those we hear all the time and skim past without a second look. They might be introduced in a different context than we normally to seeing them. If only a nerd would know that, only an artist could conceptualize it– ’cause we can make flat things seem spatial– a lingual engineer(?)… a geek would get that.

But whyyyy?

I find that it’s easier effectively listen when we don’t take words for granted– that is…know what we’re listening for. A single overused, misplaced, mispronounced, anecdotal, regional, or mystical word leaves some less than enchanted and perhaps the impression that they have already heard all that one has to say. Ahh to our detriment ’cause this is a sure-fire way to end up searching the world for what is right in front of ya. Now presentation is undeniable indeed, but I’ll take a platinum dinner plate in a hefty bag over a plastic noir origami on an engraved zinc alloy platter, any day of the week.

Prey Tell: Poem 4

Check out my 4th publicly shared poem “Prey Tell”

It does contain inferences of drugs, stalking, rape including date-rape, darkness, evil, and triumph.

If you like it, lemme know and also “Like” the page at but if you don’t have fb, view it in the stream on the right. As always, I appreciate the support from everyone.

What makes it brilliant to me is that the symbolism is not usually something I would enjoy, but yet it forces itself down, satisfies, and nourishes once it has been consumed. Finally, I the blogger has a keen eye for design that gives readers an aesthetic reminiscent of the art that is the poetry itself.

If you like that I shared this one here, then appreciate it by leaving a comment below and by following, and then be sure to go support it there. Thanks!

Featured Poem (Adult): Untitled by Kevito Dozier

The following is a poem about me written by Harlem, NY based poet, floempire radio personality, and blogger, Kevito Dozier in an adult work that captures, by impressive comprehension of attention to details in and around my expressive writings, the essence of my persona, writing style, and interests– so much for being Big Foot! Enjoy…

Sometimes I wish I could live
A nomadic lifestyle
If ever such a thing existed
Almost a colonial times
Type of mentality
Except for exploring and
Expanding physical landscapes
I would be exploring mind-states
Tap into your cerebral cortex
And strip you of your
Resources naturally
Consume your thoughts your dreams
And take them with me
As I journey through mines…

I wanna know what’s on your mind…

I wanna dissect your brain
Into little pieces like
Shattered glass
Grind it down to sand
Melt it with wax
And reshape your thoughts
Into a candle in a effort
To shed some light
On what it’s like to
Think as you do
And hope the wick
Shines as bright as the sun…

I wanna be mind f—-…

I need my mindgasms
To come in bunches
Multiples and explosions
That result in me floating
Somewhere out of space
A big bang experience
Theoretically explained
With enough sustenance
That my brain
Absorbs it as factual
Craves and sustains it…

If ever such a thing existed… 😉

The Road Less Traveled

Inspired by a Daily Prompt called The Road Less Traveled

Celebrate POETRY with me today. I started a poem entitled “3”. It was inspired by a girl  and is my 3rd publicly shared work, and decided to finish it. Also, I hope to share a beauty that was written about and for me. Of course, it is not lost on me that the very first post 10 days ago today was a song review as poetry.
